Special Minister of State Gary Gray today released the mobile version of the Australian Government Online Directory website. The Directory website provides a guide to the structure, organisations and key people in the Australian Government.
AGIMO’s Online Services Branch runs directory.gov.au and we’ve been thinking about ways we can make this information more available. So, we’ve developed a site better suited to display on your mobile phone, m.directory.gov.au and we’d like your feedback on it.
We’ve integrated smartphone functionality, which means you should be able to get maps, phone or email people. You will be able to:
- Browse Directory
- Search Directory
- View a detailed summary of contact information, then;
- Tap to call
- Tap to email
- Tap to see address in Maps
- Send VCard
For the technically inclined, this has been built using JQuery Mobile, which is an open source framework for creating user interfaces for mobiles. This meant we were able to quickly transform and markup the XML dataset available from data.gov.au.
We’re keen to get your feedback and ideas on what other features you would like us to include in the future.
